ASUS Republic of Gamers has announced the ROG Gjallar, a compact gaming soundbar designed to combine immersive audio, voice communication, and multi-platform connectivity in a single desktop or entertainment setup.
The Gjallar uses a 2.1.2-channel speaker configuration with four 50mm full-range drivers, two 27mm tweeters, upward-firing channels, and a separate wireless subwoofer. Dolby Atmos support is intended to create a more spatial soundstage for games, movies, and other content.
6.5-inch wireless subwoofer
Low-frequency output is handled by a 6.5-inch, 65W wireless subwoofer connected over the 5GHz band. ASUS says the wireless link is designed for low-latency audio while allowing greater flexibility in subwoofer positioning.
The soundbar itself has a frequency response of 50Hz to 20kHz. Its 2.1.2 layout is designed to provide directional and vertical audio cues that can improve spatial awareness in compatible Dolby Atmos content.
ASUS specifically positions the system for competitive gaming, although claims about pinpointing enemy locations and gaining a competitive advantage will ultimately depend on the game, audio mix, room setup, and user.
Control hub adds microphones and LCD display
A separate multifunction control hub provides access to EQ settings, playback, input selection, and RGB lighting. Its LCD display can also be used to switch between EQ profiles for gaming, music, and movies.
The hub incorporates Acoustic Echo Cancellation microphones intended to reduce speaker audio being picked up during voice chat. AI beamforming is also used to improve directional voice capture and suppress background noise such as PC fans and system hum.
The microphone system has a frequency response of 100Hz to 10kHz and a rated sensitivity of -37 ± 3dB.
HDMI 2.1, USB-C, Bluetooth, and more
The ROG Gjallar supports USB-C, HDMI 2.1 with eARC, optical, AUX, and Bluetooth 5.3 connections. ASUS lists compatibility with Windows PCs, Macs, TVs, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 systems, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
HDMI 2.1 supports up to 4K at 120Hz pass-through, while eARC is designed to carry high-resolution audio between compatible devices.
The soundbar also incorporates two USB Type-A ports for accessories such as wireless dongles, external storage, and other peripherals.
Gear Link handles software customization
Settings can be adjusted through ASUS Gear Link, available through a web interface and mobile app. Users can customize EQ, microphone behavior, RGB lighting, and other audio settings.
ASUS Aura RGB lighting provides up to 16.8 million colors and four preset lighting effects, allowing the soundbar to coordinate visually with other compatible gaming hardware.
Philippine pricing and availability
The ROG Gjallar is scheduled to arrive in the Philippines in September 2026 with an SRP of PHP33,490.
The soundbar measures 607 x 92 x 82mm and weighs 2.4kg. The wireless subwoofer measures 125 x 315 x 356mm and weighs 5.7kg, while the control hub measures 90 x 82 x 37mm and weighs 191g.
