The European Imaging & Sound Association or EISA released the list of 2016-2017 winners in the EISA awards, an annual event awarding the most “innovative and cutting-edge products” of the year.
The awards, handed out by EISA every year for 30 years, are selected through a rigorous process including intensive testing and a voting process done through the association’s pool of multimedia technology experts and 45 member specialist magazines.
The categories run through the spectrum of consumer electronics including mobile, photo and video devices, audio and home theater, and in-car electronics.
In the mobile devices category, the Huawei P9, the first smartphone to feature Leica’s photography expertise in its camera, was awarded European Consumer Smartphone of 2016-2017.
The LG G5 was given the European Mobile Innovation award, noting its Friends feature, modular design, and excellent hardware set it apart from the competition. Samsung’s Galaxy S7/S7 Edge bagged the European Smart Camera award.
“The collaboration of some 45 specialist magazines from
across Europe brings with it a unique pool of experience that informs each and every EISA award. So whether consumers are looking to purchase a feature-rich Smartphone, a versatile camera solution of a pair of high-end floor-standing loudspeakers, the EISA Awards are their unequivocal guide to the cream of today’s entertainment technologies,” EISA President Paul Miller said.
The full list of awards is available through the association’s website, and will officially be presented in Berlin from September 2 to 7.
