TechnologyTechnology NewsIntel Partners with AMD for a new 8th Generation Chip

Former competitors turned to allies as two computer hardware manufacturers collaborates for something bigger and bolder.

The two American tech companies  has announced its partnership last year to produce an Intel CPU integrated with an AMD graphics. Famously known as the the Kaby Lake G, this Intel 8th generation Core is packed with two GPUs: either a Radeon RX Vega M GH or Radeon RX Vega M GL. It claims to give an optimum CPU and GPU performance that could beat Nvidia.

Special customization for efficiency has been made as Intel combines its fastest CPU with AMD’s seamless mobile graphics chip. It comes with 5 variants starting from  i7-8809G which clocks in 4.2 GHz CPU all the way to the i5-8350G at 3.8 GHz. All of them sports 4 cores and 8 threads.

Meanwhile, its GPU has varying clocks and compute unit counts that begins at 24 compute units and a boost up to 1190 MHz to 20 compute units and 1011 MHz. All versions of Kaby Lake G feature 4GB of HBM2 cache for the custom Radeon RX Vega graphics component.

Intel has worked with AMD to build a semi-custom GPU for their 8th generation processor which helps to significantly reduce the size of the motherboard design and power consumption.

Everyone is looking forward to see it in action at the Consumer’s Electronics Show 2018 in Las Vegas.
