In today’s world, ecosystems are won and lost by the number of apps that are present on it. So it’s no surprise that Microsoft is trying to lure iOS developers into making apps for both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Microsoft has a lot of catching up to do – Google and Apple have around 700,000 apps present on Android and iOS, while the Redmond company only has around 100,000 present on their Windows store. So that’s probably why they invited a select number of iOS developers out to company’s headquarters to talk about making Windows apps. According to MIT’s Technology Review, the app developers liked Microsoft’s bold attempt but voiced concerns about their decision to use one operating software for PCs, phones, and tablets, mainly because making apps to run on all three is a nightmare.
