Team Aprilia took home the top two places of the Pirelli Superbike Championship’s third round last June 29 at the Clark International Speedway.
Marvin Mangulabnan, leading halfway into the 10-lap race, failed to finish after going only 6 laps. This allowed his teammate Dashi Watanabe to take the lead, coasting to his third 1st place finish out of three races this season. Fellow Aprilia rider Anthony Roman took the 2nd place, finishing 5.420 seconds behind Watanabe. 6.127 seconds later, Rainiel Resuello managed to round up the Superbike Championship podium, finishing 3rd.
For the Intermediate Class, Jussi Hoika, Rizaldy Canare, and Vincent Mercado crossed the finish line 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively. Novice Rider Tracy Soyangco was the highest in his class finishing 7th overall.
Meanwhile, 16 riders in the FDR Underbone King Championship had to deal with a partially-wet track. Niño Fabian was among the riders caught off guard by the slippery course crashing after just one lap, prompting a red flag and a race restart. Herbert Lopez took advantage of the reset with a 1.086 second lead and bringing the 150cc Open Class win for Team NHK-Racewell. John Emerson Inguito took 2nd and Romer Corbe finished 3rd.
Vrei Ar Suba took his third consecutive 1st place finish in the 115cc Open Class, while Aljon Valencia took home 1st place in the 115cc Novice Class.
For the 180cc Class FDR Scooter Racing Championship, Masato Fernando finished 1st with Paul Mark Doblada and James Barcial coming up behind in 2nd and 3rd. Aljon Valencia had another 1st place finish, this time in the 160cc Class. Meanwhile, Robert Espiritu took home the gold for the 130cc Class.
As for the support races, Clint James, Jevis Aguila, and Jay Carrion finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in both Races 1 and 2 of the Pirelli Motorad SBK Cup. Jussi Hoikka won the Open Class for the Ducati Cup while John Defensor won its Master Class.
The MotoIR race, meanwhile, was red-flagged after 11 laps due to the rain. With 75% of the course distance finished, Herbert Lopez took 1st place, Paul Mark Doblada took 2nd, and Rizaldy Canare brought home 3rd. Gio Adriano took the MotoIR 2 class win.
For the other races, Raseson Angeles won the MTRT Cup 115cc Scooter Class, Maiko Adapon won the MTRT Club Race, Justinne Bethany Tolentino in the Honda Beat Cup, and McKinley Kyle Paz in the Honda Dash Cup.
Round 4 of the Pirelli, FDR Tires, and KYT Helmets sponsored races will take place on August 2 and 3 at the Clark International Speedway.
