Samsung’s newest tablet, the Galaxy Note 8.0, was announced last month at the 2013 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Today, Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation (SEPCO) announced that they will be launching the device here in our shores in April.

    Here’s a quick refresher:

The Note 8.0 features an 8-inch TFT touch screen with a pixel density of 189 ppi. Inside the device is a 1.6GHz Exynos 4 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and either 16GB or 32GB of internal memory. The Note 8.0 runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The 8-inch slate comes with an updated S Pen, now allowing users to use the stylus to control physical buttons as well. It works with the Air View feature to let users interact with the screen simply by hovering over it. Air View on the Note 8.0 also works on compatible with third-party apps. Additional features include a built-in IR blaster and Awesome Note—a note-taking app that was previously only available to iOS devices. The Note 8.0 comes in Wi-Fi only, 3G and 4G variations.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is the world’s first 8-inch tablet, so we’re excited to see how it fares in the ease-of-use and portability departments, as compared to tablets of other sizes.
