Sony continues to contribute in their rebuilding efforts in areas hard-stricken by Typhoon Yolanda, through the help of its partners, Habitat for Humanity and Philippine Red Cross.
Sony Group companies coming from across all areas reunited and organized an employee donation initiative to assist the victims of Typhoon Yolanda, garnering a total of 57 million yen from Sony Group companies. The companies also donated radios, portable chargers and other products to aid for the lack of resources in the affected areas. Shelter repair kits intended for affected communities are included in the relief as well.
“Sony is committed to support the long term rebuilding efforts towards the full recovery of the country. Though it’s been months since Typhoon Yolanda destroyed houses in the Visayas region, families and local communities are still experiencing the effects of the calamity till this day, and that is why we will continue to extend our help and support to those who are in need,” explains Sony President Yasushi Asaoka. “Our employees will also be providing physical help to the affected areas in the coming weeks, and help rebuild the damaged houses with the local community”.
Sony believes in the power of the burning Filipino spirit that drives affected families to stay strong through this trying time and passionately joins the bayanihan to bring hope and comfort to the affected families.
