Smart Developer Network (Smart DevNet), in cooperation with AngelHack, is set to create apps that could help in the recovery of areas struck by typhoon Yolanda through it’s Hack2Help initiative happening at Davao.
Hack2Help is an overnight coding marathon to be held from November 23 to 24 at the PLDT-Smart Ponciano business office. Davao-based developers are invited to create web and mobile applications that would help boost efforts and aid in disaster recovery of areas ravaged by the typhoon.
“The developer community is one with the Filipino nation in its desire to help Yolanda survivors get back on their feet. In the many hackathons that we have organized and sponsored since 2012, we have seen many developers creating a wide variety of apps that contribute to social good. Now they will use their skills to support rebuilding efforts in the Visayas,” said Paul Pajo, developer evangelist of wireless services leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart).
The company’s developer community program, Smart Developer Network (Smart DevNet), organized AngelHack Davao which is part of the global AngelHack program. The said program will gather 6,000 developers in more than 30 cities all over the world to build a stronger developer ecosystem.
The top winner of AngelHack Davao will be accepted into the Spring 2014 HACKcelerator program which will help winning hackathon teams turn their big ideas into market-ready products. AngelHack Davao’s winning team will be sent to Silicon Valley where they can connect with investors and media. They will also get a P40,000 cash prize, $3,000 worth of developer devices, and a Freelancer premium account.
