Google is supporting the Globe Group in its SeniorDigizen campaign, which aims to equip the elderly with tech knowledge they can use in daily life.
In the campaign kickoff happening on January 25, Google is providing crucial support for Globe’s “Senior Digizen: Teach Me How to Digi,” a free learning session on the use of vital mobile apps and online safety.
At the learning session, Google Telco Sales Coach Odel Hernandez will walk participating seniors through creating a Gmail account and using its safety features. Email accounts are commonly used in signing in to other apps and digital tools.
“We are grateful to have Google with us in our advocacy to bring Filipino seniors into the digital age. This is a huge challenge, and through the power of collaboration, we will be able to help seniors enjoy the life-enabling benefits of technology and keep them safer online,” said Yoly Crisanto, chief sustainability and corporate communications officer, Globe Group.
“Partnering with stakeholders like the Globe Group to advocate for digital inclusion aligns with our mission of building a safer online space for everyone. We believe that access to technology and the education to use it responsibly are essential rights for all, regardless of age or social standing,” said Mervin Wenke, head of communications and public affairs at Google.
Globe’s SeniorDigizen campaign is in line with its digital inclusion push under its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
