Ford Philippines has once again managed to thrill car show enthusiasts as they debuted the all-new Everest and Expedition Platinum to go along with the rest of their top nameplates during the 11th Manila International Auto Show.
Making their presence felt during the MIAS were Ford’s stable of models, including the Fiesta equipped with the award-winning 1.0L EcoBoost engine; the Focus that combines smart and safety technology together in one package; the segment-defining EcoSport compact urban SUV; the Escape and Explorer Sport that bring power and fuel-efficiency in a stylish body; and the best-selling Ranger pickup truck. The iconic Mustang in a 50 Years Limited Edition skin was also on display.
Spicing up the company’s SUV portfolio is the new Ford Everest which was redesigned inside and out. On the exterior, a rugged, sculptural design conveys unmatched toughness, while inside are premium technologies for a sophisticated and comfortable ride. These include a panoramic sunroof, third-row PowerFold seats, Power Tailgate, Active Park Assist, and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross Traffic Alert. Also on board is Ford’s in-car connectivity suite, SYNC 2, which is utilized through an 8-inch touchscreen with color-coded corners for easier menu navigation.
Meanwhile, the Expedition Platinum is Ford’s most fuel-efficient model yet. It sees an updated exterior with a new grille complemented by LED fog lamps. Other exterior elements given the aggressive redesign were the rear hatch, chrome-tipped exhaust pipes, and 22-inch wheels. In the cabin is a fresh center stack with an 8-inch touch screen for SYNC with MyFord Touch. The driver information cluster also has two full-color 4.2-inch LCD displays, while all the seats inside were fitted with Brunello leather with French-seamed stitching accents.
Powering the Expedition Platinum is a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine delivering 370Ps of power and 569Nm of torque, all the while ensuring outstanding fuel economy even at low engine speeds. The impressive power plant is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox with manual mode that allows drivers to use a shift-mounted rocker to select a gear.
The Expedition remains to be the sole full-size utility vehicle not classified as a luxury offering to feature an independent rear suspension. This helps create a more stable and manageable ride while allowing for a lower, more convenient fold-flat third-row bench seat.
Other features such as Blind Spot Information System, power-assisted steering, a 10-speaker, 700-watt Sony audio System, Intelligent Access with push-button start, rearview camera, seven-color interior ambient LED lighting, and Ford truck apps all come standard with the Expedition Platinum.
The new Ford Expedition Platinum will hit dealerships in July at a price of PHP 3,488,000. It will be available in the following colors: white platinum, tuxedo black, and magnetic metallic.
