    SAMSUNG CSC

Cherry Mobile announced their latest range of smartphones, the Cosmos line, last night, and we had the chance to see them live and upclose before they hit stores next month.

All models in the Cosmos line have MediaTek MT6589 quad-core processors, 18-megapixel backside-illuminated (BSI) rear cameras, and run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

    Cosmos-Z

Leading the pack is the Cosmos Z—a 1.5GHz quad-core dual-SIM and dual-standby five-incher with a Full HD IPS screen that supports up to five touch points and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Aside from the powerful main camera at the back, the Cosmos Z also has an 8.0-megapixel front-facing camera that also uses a BSI sensor. It supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G/HSPA+. It has 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It will sell for PHP 11,999.

    Cosmos-S

Second in line is the Cosmos S, which features specs that are similar to the Cosmos Z, except that it does not support dual-SIM, its screen is not Full HD, and it has heftier ROM at 16GB of storage. The Cosmos S will be available at PHP 10,999.

    Cosmos-X2

The Cosmos X2 has a slightly lower processor speed than the two previous devices, at only 1.2GHz. Like the Cosmos S, it has 16GB of ROM and 1GB of RAM, yet it also inherits the dual-SIM functionality of the Cosmos Z. The front camera is less powerful, being able to shoot only in 5.0 megapixels at maximum capacity. The screen is also slightly smaller—as is the overall size of the handset—but it uses Super AMOLED technology and it is able to display images in HD. On top of that, it supports up to 10 touch points. The Cosmos X2 will cost PHP 11,699.

    Cosmos-X

Wrapping up the new line-up is the Cosmos X, which has a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 4GB ROM, 1GB RAM, a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD screen, an 8.0-megapixel BSI front-facing camera, five-point multi-touch, and dual-SIM functionality. It will retail at PHP 9,999.

All four phones will be available in August.
