“Creating a company is easy, but building a brand is difficult” according to Starmobile COO Michael Chen.

When Star Telecom Alliance Resources, Inc. (STAR Inc.), the company behind Starmobile, began operations in 2011, its founders set out to create a Philippine-based mobile devices brand  that is known for quality and durability, and adheres to internationally-accepted standards. Today, this guiding principle has started to pay off. STAR Inc.’s complete product line-up now boasts of fully compliant components under the guidelines of reputable organizations such as CE (European Conformity), FCC (Federal Communications Commission-USA) and with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive of the European Union.

This is the result of the company’s “Star Standards” initiative, where the company deliberately selected only parts, partners, factories, and practices that have been certified to meet the most stringent standards in the industry.

“Having fully-certified and compliant parts make for a fully-certified and compliant phone,” said Chen. “Under Star Standards, the company has been able to meet its target of having the lowest product return and defect rate among local smartphone brands today.”

Aside from choosing components, suppliers, and processes that have industry certifications, another important pillar of Star Standards is the company’s 35-point quality control check that ensures that individual parts such as the USB port, touchscreen, speakers, and batteries, among others, are functioning well. “This assures the public that Starmobile devices are safe to operate and can stand toe-to-toe with products from international brands in terms of performance and durability,” added Chen.

As part of Star Standards, the company also ensures that the Android operating system powering its smartphones has been duly licensed by Google. This means that the software is compliant with Google’s requirements to ensure smooth and seamless operation with its ecosystem of services (Gmail, PLAY Store, etc.). This certification is only granted to manufacturers that are able to satisfy the steep requirements of the internet giant.

“Not all local brands are created equal. This is why our lineup of devices remain to be a cut above the rest,” said Chen. “We will continue to improve on this practice as we see it as key to our long-term business strategy,” he ended.

Consumers interested in getting high-quality and durable Starmobile products can also win additional exciting prizes as part of the company’s STAR-Tagal campaign. Until December 31, 2017, customers who purchase any Starmobile product can get a chance to win over P4 million worth of prizes, tax-free. These include hundreds of new Starmobile devices, home appliances, 8 Honda motorcycles, 2 brand-new Toyota cars, or Php1,000,000 in cash.
