It was only a matter of time before one of the local players introduced an LTE smartphone. The Ultra is Cherry Mobile’s, and the local market’s first purpose-built LTE handset, and with the price, quality and availability, it looks like 4G connectivity for everyone has arrived.
It’s a handsome phone. Though everything apart from the Dragon Trail Glass front is plastic, it doesn’t feel like a toy. It has just enough heft and feels great in the hand.
The screen is rather nice, with sharp colors, great brightness and fie pixels that you won’t notice unless you try really hard.
The Ultra runs a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor, with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It has a 5″ screen and a 13MP main camera.
It is a single-SIM phone, which makes sense, as two live lines may take its toll on its user-removable 2000mAh battery.
We haven’t been using it for very long at this point, but all signs point to a great phone. It’s zippy, has no lag when opening apps, swiping though menus and navigating through the Internet.
We’ve got really high expectations for this phone, so hang tight. We’re going to have a full review for you in just a little bit!
