Sony’s newest flagship Ultrabook, the VAIO Fit, features a multi-flip hinge, which allows it to be folded and flexed into three different positions or “modes”: Laptop, Tablet, and Entertainment.

The VAIO Fit is available as a 15-inch model with an Intel Core i7 processor (Fit 15A), a 13-inch model that also carries a Core i7 processor (Fit 13A – SVF13N17PGB), and another 13-incher that uses Core i5 (Fit 13A – SVF13N12SGB). All models are full-function laptops that run Windows 8. 

The VAIO Fit’s thinness

The thin chassis features an aluminum hairline finish that is available in either black or silver, and is home to two USB 3.0 ports (three for the 15-inch model), a full-size SD card reader, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm audio port.

All three models come with a Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS touchscreen display that uses both Triluminos and the X-Reality engine for mobile—technologies borrowed from the company’s TV line. They also have the bass-boosting Clear Audio+ technology built into them.

The VAIO Fit models are also NFC-capable.

With the VAIO Fit, Sony also introduces a suite of pre-installed apps that are collectively called the “Inspiration Stream”. These are: VAIO CamScanner, VAIO Clip, and VAIO Paper.

CamScanner allows users to take pictures of documents using the device’s front camera. The VAIO Fit models use the Exmor RS imaging engine found in Sony’s digital cameras and flagship Xperia smartphones. The 13-inch models also come with an 8.0-megapixel rear camera. Clip, meanwhile, is a basic photo-editing application; Paper lets users make notes and draw using the digitizer stylus included in the package.

The VAIO Fit 13A and 15A models will be available for purchase in the Philippines in mid-November—PHP 79,999 for the 15A, PHP 69,999 for the 13A Core i5 model, and PHP 89,999 for the 13A Core i7 model.
