MobilityPH says hello to the new-generation Suzuki Vitara

Suzuki Philippines officially launched the new Suzuki Vitara last November 9 at the Metrotent Convention Center in Pasig City.

Combining three decades of design heritage with Suzuki’s leading compact vehicle technological expertise, the subcompact SUV highlights performance and fuel efficiency in its design.

The Vitara has the lightest curb weight in its category as well as an aerodynamic frame, improving fuel efficiency. The SUV gets an updated 1.6-liter engine with a maximum torque of 156 Nm at 4,400 rpm and maximum power of 115 hp at 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

The Vitara also has cruise control, a speed limiter, ultrasonic sensors on both bumpers with a reverse assist camera, automatic lights and wipers.

Faithful to its predecessors, the Vitara is a mixture of strength and class with a modernized Suzuki SUV signature clamshell bonnet, a smooth roof line and aerodynamic lines running through the body. The GL gets 16-inch steel wheels with full caps, while the GL+ and GLX versions get 16 and 17-inch polished alloy wheels respectively.

The interiors feature round analog clock and air vents, and premium fabric with the GLX model sporting seats upholstered with a combination of leather and suede. The GLX model also has a panoramic sunroof with two glass panels which provide the biggest opening in its vehicle class. Both the GL+ and GLX models feature footwell lighting and keyless push-start ignition.

The Vitara’s entertainment and navigation system is controlled via a touch screen running an Android-based OS (10-inch screen for the GLX, 7-inch for the GL+ and GL variants) and supports hands-free, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. It also boasts Wi-Fi support and smartphone MirrorLink.

Suzuki provides plenty of room for personalization, allowing owners to choose from a range of colors (two-tone options are also available) and accessory packages ranging from the more rugged to the more sophisticated.

“Equipped with top of the line features, the new Vitara will enable the Filipino driving public to
freely express their individuality through its unique design and a wide selection of colors to
choose from. Apart from this, the Vitara is designed with enhanced safety features and superior
fuel efficiency. Backed by all these features, we are hopeful that the new Vitara will appeal to
the Philippine market especially among millennials,” said Nobutaka Suzuki, Suzuki Motor Corporation Global Automobile Planning Department General Manager.

Both the GLX and GL+ variants are available for PHP 1,048,000 and PHP 938,000 respectively while the GL base model has yet to be announced.
