Last January 24 and 25 at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, Yamaha Motor Philippines, Inc. publicly launched the multi-wheeled Yamaha Tricity, a unique motorcycle featuring the Leaning Multi-Wheel technology that allows it to perform admirably in different kinds of road conditions.
The Tricity takes the form of a big scooter, but with two wheels up front and one wheel at the back. The front pair have their own independent suspension system connected by a Parallelogram Link allowing for completely parallel turns. The suspensions are Cantilevered Telescopic with a deep 90mm stroke for maximum damping action.
The launch was kicked off by hosts Rico Robles and Karen Borbador as the guests got to see the Tricitys in front of European-themed backdrops. A Rev Station was also on hand to brief and equip those wanting to test drive Yamaha’s new import at a custom built obstacle course within the venue.
Celebrities like Justin Quirino, Matteo Guidicelli, Jessy Mendiola, Alexander Diaz, Gaby De La Merced, Gretchen Ho, James Reid, Iya Villania, and Drew Arellano all got to try out the Tricity’s grit and ability over different road surfaces, including hills, ramps, speed bumps, and wet spots. Also getting a crack at the test track were over 500 Yamaha Club riders and enthusiasts, Yamaha dealers, media personnel, and other event guests.
Also entertaining the attendees were some fun side activities, including raffle draws, performances by dance groups Pretty Young Thing and The Philippine All-Stars, and the Tricity Café where guests helped themselves to food and drinks.
YMPH president, Mr.Toru Osugi spearheaded the contingent of executives that also included sales and marketing director, Mr. Kaoru Ogura; sales general manager, Mr. Romeo Tan; and marketing section manager, Mr. Ryan Jude Camus; all arriving at the event aboard their own Tricity bikes.
The Yamaha Tricity which allows commuters and riders to move like no other will be on sale at authorized Yamaha dealers and 3s stores for PHP 146,000. It comes in either matte red or white colors.
