    Yamaha PH racing team bounces back  with standout results at ARRC Japan

    After a challenging round in Sepang, the Yamaha Philippines Racing Team riders returned to the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship at  Mobility Resort in Motegi, Japan, last July 11-13, 2025.  Their renewed determination delivered results that turned heads for all the right reasons. McKinley Kyle Paz, April King Mascardo, and EJ Sobretodo showcased the grit and growth that have come to define how Filipinos and Yamaha continue to change the race. 

    McKinley Kyle Paz: The Wonderboy Rises Again

    In the highly competitive SS600 class, “The Wonderboy” McKinley Kyle Paz reminded everyone why he remains a serious contender this season. He carved out an impressive fifth-place finish in Race 1 on Saturday, mastering the tight battles within the leading pack.

    On Sunday, McKinley went one better. He held his nerve in a tense final-lap fight to secure a well-earned podium in Race 2, crossing the line in third place. His pace and composure helped his Hong Leong Yamaha Racing Team protect its lead at the top of the Team Overall Championship standings, strengthening their position as title favorites.

    UB150: The Rocket and The Android Keep Climbing

    In the unpredictable UB150 category, April King Mascardo and EJ Sobretodo reminded everyone what perseverance looks like. 

    April King, fondly known as “The Rocket,” stayed sharp and steady throughout Race 1, moving up from ninth on the grid to finish eighth. He then turned up the heat on Sunday, crossing the line in fourth to mark his best finish of the season so far.

    EJ “The Android” Sobretodo faced a setback after a crash in Race 1 that sidelined him early. But he refused to let injury keep him out of the fight. He came back stronger on Sunday, digging deep to claim a determined ninth-place finish and score valuable points for the team.

    Motegi was more than just another race weekend, it was proof that hard work, unity and self-belief can overcome any obstacle, on or off the track. Through ups and downs, this Filipino trio continues to show what it means to rise above and race with heart.

    Enchanted Kingdom levels up Eldar the Wizard’s special day with Mega Birthday Bash

    Enchanted Kingdom, the first and only world-class theme park in the Philippines, brings more magic and fun for its 30th year with the month-long birthday celebration of its iconic character, Eldar the Wizard, this July 2025.

    As part of The Enchanted Story of Eldar the Wizard campaign, EK honors its most beloved homegrown character through a series of engaging activities, captivating shows, hands-on learning, delightful treats, and plenty of surprises around the park.

    Kicking off the festivities for his Mega Birthday Bash, Eldar enlisted the help of his Spaceport and Jungle Outpost buddies—Morgom, Cromatia, and Snaptooth—in hiding invitation cards for his special day on their respective zones last July 12, 2025. Park guests who were able to find Eldar’s Missing Birthday Invitations enjoyed minigames and enchanting treats.

    The enchantment continues on July 19, where guests can help Ogg the Guard in The Search for Eldar’s Birthday Hats at Victoria Park, Portabello, and Brooklyn Place.

    EK will also bring an enchanting twist to the classic tradition of gift-giving through The Birthday Giver on July 19 and 20.     Globe connecting ‘Silicon Valenzuela’ with the world

    In support of the Digital Bayanihan initiative led by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Globe will provide connectivity to Valenzuela City’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Hub, which aims to establish a ‘Silicon Valenzuela,” to make the country future-ready and help create eight million jobs by 2028.

    “As an industry, we are aligned in the belief that connectivity must not end with access,” Philippine Chamber of Telecommunication Operators (PCTO) president and Globe Group general counsel Froilan Castelo said. “Our collective goal must be to translate access into real opportunity, to enable learning outcomes for students, to foster scale and resilience among micro and small enterprises, and to allow every Filipino to participate in the digital economy with confidence and security.” 

    Castelo emphasized this commitment during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the City Government of Valenzuela for the development of a premier ICT Hub.

    ‘Silicon Valenzuela’

    Under the “Silicon Valenzuela” vision, the ICT hub will house green data centers, an ICT academy, a business incubation ecosystem, co-working spaces, digital retail areas, along with government services.

    Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie Gatchalian plans to form a technical working group to come up with the ICT Hub’s feasibility studies and total project cost.

    Valenzuela’s ICT Hub inspiration—the Silicon Valley—originated from a science research base housed in the universities of California and was fueled by venture capital and government spending. 

    “The ICT hub became part of my vision for Valenzuela in 2022. Since then, I dreamed of creating a Silicon Valley in Valenzuela. We created ValTech and now, we will build the ICT Academy,” said Gatchalian.

    Valenzuela is transforming from a manufacturing hub to an ICT hub. Aiming to become a “Silicon Valley” is an initiative supporting the DICT’s Digital Bayanihan, a collaborative effort that aims to bridge the digital divide and ensure no Filipino is left behind in the digital age. 

    It begins with an ICT Academy, a collaboration between DICT and the local government, built on a 1.9-hectare property. It will have six interconnected buildings, including academic facilities, a BPO hub, and an ICT museum. The first school building is slated for construction next year, pending funding. 

    While Valenzuela City subsidizes 15,000 university students, 42% of the Philippine workforce lacks digital literacy, highlighting the need for increased digital readiness.

    Access to Real Opportunities

    Castelo said that the next frontier is digital literacy and for PCTO member-operators to invest in education initiatives, promote online safety, data privacy, and critical digital skills, especially for the youth.  These are today’s essential competencies as risks increasingly accompany reach.

    Despite having a vibrant social media presence globally, 42 percent of the country’s workforce lack digital literacy, according to recent studies, which means they have to gear up to be digitally ready.

    “In all of this, one truth remains clear, meaningful progress cannot be achieved in isolation. It demands shared purpose and sustained partnership among industry players, government agencies, civil society, and the communities we serve,” Castelo concluded.
