Offices are nice, but they can be a little boring. Sometimes you just need to get out of the confines of your off-white box and see the world a little. This is fine if you’re a writer; a tablet and a keyboard are all you really need. Once you start getting into the more graphics-intensive stuff, though, you’re going to need a little more muscle than an iPad can handle.

Dell wants to take the power o your usual office graphics rig and stuff comfortably in your bag with the Dell Precision M3800. The slim, light laptop is a full mobile workstation that can handle the heaviest graphics loads you can throw at it. Portability is the M3800’s strong suit. At a mere 18mm thick (3.4 inch) and tipping the scales at well under two pounds, the machine is no trouble in a 15″ laptop bag.

The heart of the beast is a 4th Generation, 3.2GHz Intel Core i7 processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM, and the Nvidia Quadro K1100M GPU with 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM. Graphics-intensive tasks such as 3D rendering, on-site video editing and CAD projects are nothing to the M3800. Looking at the spec, a little mobile gaming shouldn’t be that big a problem either.

Mobility just wouldn’t be mobile without a suitably large power supply, and the laptop, coupled with Nvidia’s Optimus technology has endurance enough for over 10 hours of use. That’s a lot of time to finish a job, even if you are cramming it at a coffee shop before the big meeting.
