Converge ICT Solutions Inc., through its enterprise and corporate arm Converge Global Business, has partnered with the local government of Danao City in Cebu to strengthen the city’s digital infrastructure and support its smart city initiatives.
The collaboration formalizes the deployment of high-capacity Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) connectivity as part of Danao City’s broader digital transformation roadmap.
The initiative aims to improve connectivity across government offices and public services while helping prepare the city for more integrated digital systems and smart city technologies.
Building a more connected Danao City
Under the agreement, Danao City will use Converge’s enterprise-grade fiber infrastructure as the primary backbone for its digital operations.
The deployment is expected to support faster communication, more secure data management, and improved operational efficiency across local government departments.
Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III said the city has been steadily investing in digital infrastructure since 2023 as part of its long-term modernization efforts.
“Today, we have connected 27 of our 42 barangays with reliable internet access. We are now pushing forward to achieve 100% connectivity within the year,” Durano said.
Supporting smart city initiatives
The partnership is also positioned as part of Danao City’s push toward becoming a smarter and more digitally connected urban center.
By strengthening its connectivity infrastructure, the city aims to create a more efficient digital environment for public services and future integrated technologies.
Jaive Joseph Roble, city ICT officer of Danao, said reliable connectivity remains essential as the city continues to modernize government systems and improve service delivery for residents.
Expanding public sector digital transformation
Converge Global Business said the collaboration reflects its continued focus on supporting digital transformation projects within the public sector.
Shion Canen, AVP and head for enterprise sales vismin at Converge Global Business, said scalable and reliable connectivity infrastructure plays a key role in enabling more agile government services.
