Almost 30 Shell Select sites in Metro Manila and Bacolod City will keep serving as collection points for used clear PET bottles
Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP) and Shell Pilipinas Corporation have renewed their partnership under the Tapon to Ipon program, continuing their work to support PET bottle collection and recycling. Building on their work together since 2023, the two organizations aim to keep making it easier for consumers to properly segregate post-consumer PET bottles.

HOW TAPON TO IPON WORKS
Tapon to Ipon is Coca-Cola’s nationwide PET bottle collection program in the Philippines. Consumers can deposit used clear PET bottles in designated collection bins at participating Shell Select stores.
The program is implemented in partnership with Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies, Inc. (BEST), and the collected PET bottles are diverted to PETValue Philippines, the country’s pioneering bottle-to-bottle recycling facility. PETValue Philippines is a joint venture between CCEAP and global sustainable chemicals company Indorama Ventures. It transforms post-consumer PET plastic bottles into food-grade recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) that can be made into new beverage bottles.
“At Coca-Cola, we believe that partnerships play an important role in driving meaningful and lasting impact in the communities we serve. Since 2023, our collaboration with Shell has made it easier for consumers to take part in PET bottle collection and recycling through convenient drop-off points at Shell Select stores. We are grateful to have a long-standing, like-minded partner in advancing the Tapon to Ipon initiative and encouraging greater participation in PET bottle recovery efforts,” said Atty. Marc Cruz Cox, stakeholder relations director of CCEAP.

WHAT THE RENEWAL COVERS
As part of the renewed partnership, selected Shell Select stores across Metro Manila and Bacolod City will continue to serve as PET bottle collection points. This makes it easier for consumers to recycle while raising awareness of the recyclability of clear PET bottles.
Under the renewed agreement, almost 30 participating Shell Select sites in Metro Manila and Bacolod City will serve as collection points, giving consumers more locations to drop off used clear PET bottles for collection and recycling.
“Our Shell Select stores are part of the everyday journeys of motorists and customers, giving us an opportunity to make PET bottle collection more convenient. Through our continued partnership with Coca-Cola, customers can drop off their used PET bottles at participating stores for collection and recycling,” said Mike Ramolete, vice president and general manager of Shell Mobility Philippines.
The continued collaboration of CCEAP and Shell Pilipinas encourages more Filipinos to take part in recycling, supporting positive change through collective action.
