The newly expanded UPS Clark Hub is meant to improve freight handling and extend regional capacity

The Philippines’ growing economy has placed greater demands on the systems that move goods across the country. In 2025, domestic trade reached 60.19 million tons, with 53 percent transported by water and 47 percent by road. Through shifting market demands, nationwide disruptions, and regional changes, the sector showed resilience by adapting operations and rebuilding critical supply networks to keep trade moving.

LOGISTICS PROVIDERS ADAPT

To bridge infrastructure gaps and handle rising freight volumes, logistics providers have continued to evolve. Strategic collaborations have proved effective in strengthening capabilities across the industry. A key example is the long-standing partnership between Delbros Group and United Parcel Service (UPS).

What began as a service agreement in 1988 became a formal joint venture in 1997. It is the only remaining joint venture among major global express carriers in the Philippines, and one of the few in the world to last this long. Over the past three decades, the partnership has improved infrastructure to support rising domestic trade volumes and connected local enterprises to international supply chains.

SCALING UP AROUND THE UPS CLARK HUB

To further establish the country as a primary regional trade network, UPS and Delbros have scaled their operations around the newly expanded UPS Clark Hub.

“Our partnership was built on a shared vision of deepening trade links between the Philippines and the rest of the world,” said Jose Paolo Delgado, CEO of Delbros Group. “By combining our established domestic networks and local expertise with global capabilities, we can elevate Filipino industries and talent to the international market.”

The expansion enhances freight handling efficiency and extends capacity across the regional port. By leveraging Clark’s strategic position as a global logistics gateway, it is meant to drive long-term economic growth while creating sustainable job opportunities for the local workforce.

DELBROS’ LEGACY

Founded in 1946, Delbros Group has built a legacy of pioneering solutions, introducing floating fuel stations, mechanized pallet handling, and containerization to modernize early port operations. Over the decades, the group has also scaled into integrated land, air, and sea transport, alongside specialized ventures in agriculture and technology.

“As global trade evolves, our focus remains on building resilient, adaptable infrastructure,” added Delgado. “The Clark expansion is part of a broader mission to ensure Philippine logistics can support complex supply chain demands for decades to come.”

LOOKING AHEAD

Looking ahead, demand for resilient supply chains, regional hub integration, and multimodal connectivity will remain vital to economic progress. Through strategic partnerships like UPS-Delbros and modern infrastructure developments, the Philippine logistics landscape is well-positioned to meet rising trade demands while strengthening the global competitiveness of Filipino industries.
