Smart Padala Introduces Newest Campaign “PadaLapit”

    0

Smart Padala, the remittance brand of PayMaya Philippines, has just announced its new campaign along with the introduction of Angel Locsin as its brand ambassador.

The new campaign aims to reinforce the brand message of Smart Padala—PadaLapit–which is projected to further strengthen its leadership in the remittance service industry.

Based on data from the first National Baseline Survey on Financial Inclusion released by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas mid-2015, it is estimated that on average, Filipinos take around 22 minutes to reach the nearest financial services touch point. This amounts to an average of PHP 43 for a roundtrip fare.

Now with 15,000 Smart Padala partner centers nationwide, customers who need to send or receive money remittances need not to travel and spend resources as there’s a Smart Padala center virtually at every corner. These centers include the recently launched Smart Padala International flagship stores that enable Filipinos to receive the remittances of their loved ones abroad.

On top of enabling accessible, convenient, and secure mobile money remittance, Smart Padala also fosters entrepreneurship in the community.

“The backbone of our business is our army of Smart Padala community partners. Part of our mission is to help families and communities by providing micro-entrepreneurship opportunities. Anyone can be our partner and open a Padala center — all they need is a cellular phone, our basic business documentary requirements, and the driving passion to be of service,” said Paolo Azzola, Managing Director and co-COO of PayMaya Philippines.

Smart Padala has also been deploying consumer-oriented promotions such as its Padalang Padalow for lower customer service fees and incentives to Padala partners. Meanwhile, its Pick-Up Anywhere service allows users to send money to anyone, regardless of mobile network, to be redeemed at any Smart Padala center nationwide.

Smart Padala - Angel Locsin 1

Along the launch of Smart Padala’s newest thrust in the remittance service industry, they also announced family-oriented and advocate of various causes, Angel Locsin as its brand ambassador.

Suzuki Celerio and Ciaz get top honors at DOE-Petron Fuel Economy Run

    0

CIAZ AND CELERIO_DOE FUEL ECO RUN (1)

Suzuki Celerio, one of Suzuki Philippines’ best-selling cars, clinched the top spot for fuel efficiency in the gasoline engine category at the first-ever Euro 4 Fuel Economy Run organized by the Department of Energy (DOE) in partnership with Petron Corporation. Out of the 70 different vehicles from more than 20 different manufacturers that participated last May 27, 2016 in the 280-kilometer run, Celerio gave the best fuel economy performance in a pioneering event aimed at providing vital information on the fuel economy performance of vehicles and raising public awareness on the use of cleaner and more efficient Euro 4 fuels. All of the vehicles used Petron’s Euro-4 quality products.

The DOE, which intends to institutionalize a fuel efficiency labeling program using the results of this test drive as the benchmark, released the results of Euro 4 Fuel Economy Run early this June and recognized all participating car brands with certificates. The program is pursuant to DOE’s aim of expanding the Philippine Energy Standards and Labeling Program’s (PESLP) efforts to include more appliances, lighting systems, and light-duty motor vehicles to strengthen the country’s energy efficiency and conservation efforts.

Suzuki Celerio CVT emerged to have the best gasoline-powered engine after achieving 29.14km/L in the run which stretched from Angeles, Pampanga through the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) and back. Aside from the Celerio, the all-new Ciaz Manual Transmission (M/T) likewise topped the fuel-efficiency test in the gasoline sedan category, clocking in at 27.94km/L. Other Suzuki vehicles also participated in the exercise, including Celerio M/T (27.70), Ciaz GLX A/T (22.93km/L), Swift 1.2 (22.35km/L), and Ertiga GLX A/T (22.03km/L).

SPH General Manager for Automobile Shuzo Hoshikura shared, “We are truly proud of the achievement of our top favorite products, the Celerio and Ciaz. This is indeed a great testament to our commitment to bring the highest quality and most fuel efficient vehicles in the market. Recognitions like this inspire us to continue developing and manufacturing premium and reliable cars.”

Celerio features an A+ compact build which is based on the “small on the outside, big on the inside” concept. It sports the dynamic and easy-to-maneuver design Suzuki compact cars are known for, while offering spacious room for passengers, relatively huge luggage capacity and great fuel efficiency.

The newly rolled out subcompact Ciaz, on the other hand, blends sportiness that conveys the expectation of driving and a stunning feeling of elegance. Its name stands for “City from A to Z,” capturing the essence of Asia’s fast-growing metropolitan landscape. It is packed with best-in-class fuel efficiency and other advanced features coupled with a sporty, elegant exterior design and refined interiors.

    0

Hyundai - Fuel Efficient Cars (1)

The Elantra 1.6 GL 6M/T ranked third in the C-Segment with a rating of 27.83km/L. Being a gasoline-fed vehicle, the Elantra surprisingly shared similar fuel efficiency results with its top two diesel rivals.

In the SUV category, the Tucson (Gas and Diesel) and the Santa Fe CRDi were among the Top 10 performers in the entire segment. The Tucson CRDi, which ranked second in the Compact SUV segment, turned out to be more fuel efficient than smaller and lighter SUVs, with a rating of 24.80km/L.

While in the mid-size SUV category, the Santa Fe CRDi ranked second with a fuel consumption rating of 22.76km/L, outperforming its peers with exceptional fuel efficiency despite having one of the most powerful engines among the SUV participants.

Said HARI President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo, “The results of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Euro 4 Fuel Economy Run only validate our commitment to responsible innovation-innovation that responds to our customer’s desire for fuel economy and is responsible to the community and to the environment in our concerted bid to reduce toxic emissions in the atmosphere. That is what being Euro 4-compliant is all about. As our ongoing “Gusto” campaign goes, we are proactively responding to what customers today need and want. I am proud to say that Hyundai engineering innovation in the Accent, Accent Hatch, All-New Elantra, All-New Tucson, and Santa Fe continues to give the market just that.”

Globe cautions postpaid customers vs fraudsters offering account removal via Facebook

    globe1-l73n84x2b8mm6zjxzuak8hwknwz9llzikudaejs9rc

Globe Telecom strongly cautions its mobile postpaid customers against fraudsters offering via Facebook removal of current Globe account and replacing such current accounts with new ones that may even include new phones. Based on the unauthorized offers we have monitored, customers supposedly no longer need to pay for their outstanding balances for a fee.

    Fraud 2

Obviously, such offers are fraudulent and illegal, and the perpetrators of these will be subjected to criminal prosecution. Customers who avail themselves of these fraudulent offers may also be exposed to criminal prosecution and still be held liable for their outstanding and new accounts with the company. We call on our customers not to respond to such messages sent to them via Facebook and should instead report these to us.  Globe is already working closely with police authorities for the arrest of these fraudsters and to stop these fraudulent activities. — Atty. V. Froilan Castelo, Globe General Counsel.

    Johnson Health Tech Lands Locally

Johnson Health Tech (JHT) has opened another wholly owned subsidiary in the heart of the Makati Business District as it looks to expand its Southeast Asia presence. As the region’s largest fitness manufacturer, JHT prides itself in creating industry-leading equipment utilized by companies such as Trek, Schwinn, Omron, True, and Universal, among others.

“Johnson Health Tech is extremely excited to have an established home in one of the most dynamic cities in Southeast Asia. As a direct subsidiary, we can bring a number of significant benefits to our customers across both commercial and home use fitness segments.  With JHT’s industry-leading product portfolio and strength in global R&D and manufacturing, paired with our local team of highly trained professionals, we can provide turn-key solutions for all fitness and wellness related needs.  Here in Manila, we want to be known as Johnson Health Tech Philippines, Inc.”, said Katsuya Ito, the Japanese-Australian national spearheading JHT Philippines’ Team Manila.  Prior to this appointment, Ito served as a regional sales manager for JHT’s Taiwan corporate headquarters, and head of overseas sales development for Fujiiryoki (Fuji Medical Instruments), a leading Japanese massage chair manufacturer.

JHT began as Johnson Metal when founder Peter Lo made 200 barbell pieces for USD 400 in 1975. While creating his first order, Lo continued to refine his skills and knowledge on barbell manufacturing, as well as began understanding how fitness positively affects individuals and societies.

By the 1980s, Lo’s barbell outfit began expanding to the cardio fitness space—a relatively small market at that time due to equipment either being too expensive for the regular consumer or too cheap in quality for those looking to get into cardio activities. Realizing the need for bang for the buck equipment that offers exceptional quality on an affordable price tag, Johnson Health Tech was born.

With a keen eye for up and coming fitness trends, JHT was able to grow very quickly, launching both Horizon Fitness and Matrix Fitness to cater to a wider market. Throughout its history, JHT has also pioneered industry innovations such as the Matrix hybrid bike and the first folding elliptical machine.

Currently, Johnson Health Tech has 24 wholly-owned subsidiaries, a service network of 60 countries, and 315 retail stores. Its Philippine branch will serve both the commercial market, including fitness clubs, condominiums, corporate gyms, colleges, and government projects; as well as the home use market, where the subsidiary’s primary focus will be to aggressively develop a corporate-owned retail store network across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Globe, UNICEF Philippines, AHRC sign MoU on online child protection

    0

Globe Telecom recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Philippines and Ateneo Human Rights Center (AHRC) for the protection of children against exploitation online.

Globe was invited by UNICEF and AHRC to be the pioneer Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the Philippines to take innovative and concrete steps to combat child exploitation in cyberspace.  This is in recognition of the company’s mission to create a wonderful world for people, business, and the nation.

Both UNICEF and AHRC earlier embarked on a project to build a child-friendly cyberspace together with different stakeholders.  UNICEF is an international organization that promotes the rights and wellbeing of every child, focusing special effort on reaching the most vulnerable and excluded children. AHRC was established as one of the first university-based institutions engaged in the promotion and protection of human rights in the country.

Over the past ten years, the Philippines experienced significant growth in connectivity with an internet penetration rate of 43.5% or over 44 million Filipinos with internet access.  However, the Philippine National Police said half of internet users are children aged 17 years old and below, thus, the urgency for a united drive for online child protection.

Under the MoU, a study will be conducted to determine how the principles of child rights will be integrated in the business principles of Globe to ensure that the company complies with international standards on online child protection and that its employees are informed properly about the laws related to this.

At the same time, the partnership will help further develop and propagate the Digital Thumbprint Program, a school-based workshop adopted by Globe from Optus of Australia.  DTP is designed to increase the students’ knowledge of digital citizenship and cybersafety by taking a critical look at their online behavior and helping them develop insights into the influences of the internet, the choices they make and the internet’s impact on themselves and the people around them.  DTP covers three key topics: cyber safety and security, cyber etiquette and responsibility, and online leadership and empowerment.  It also involves the training of teachers and volunteer trainers and facilitators who would like to help share the program to as many schools around the country.

The MoU is also in support of UNICEF’s #WeProtect campaign, an international movement that brings together leading technology companies, governments and international organizations to protect millions of children from online sexual exploitation. It includes the completion of a national study on online child protection that will help improve support services for victims in the Philippines.

Seventeen countries have joined the global program.  This includes Albania, Algeria, Brazil, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, India, Jordan, Kenya, Madagascar, Montenegro, Namibia, Paraguay,  Serbia, Uganda, Vietnam and the Philippines.
