Chinese mobile technology giant OPPO launched the F3 Plus, the company’s flagship selfie camera phone, at a star-studded event last March 23 at the City of Dreams in Pasay.
The OPPO F3 Plus builds upon the technology of its predecessor, the F1s, by adding a second six-piece, eight-megapixel lens to its main 16-megapixel front-facing camera. This allows users to take ultra-wide angle pictures with a field of view of 120 degrees, revolutionizing the “groufie” and allowing more people to fit in a self-portrait shot. The main front-facing camera on the other hand, takes clear photos even in low light with a third of an inch-thick sensor coupled with an f/2.0 aperture.
“Since OPPO started the Selfie Revolution in the Philippines with the F1 Series, we’ve gone through incredible growth especially when we became the country’s second bestselling smartphone in 2016. We are very excited to see the F3 Plus start a new trend in groufies and reinforce our position as the Selfie Expert,” said OPPO brand marketing manager Stephen Cheng.
The 16-megapixel main camera has been upgraded with a new custom-built 1/2.8-inch Sony IMX398 co-developed with Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation. The sensor is coupled with a large f/1.7 aperture and dual-phase autofocus, improving focus, speed and performance in low light settings.
In terms of hardware, the OPPO F3 Plus carries a Qualcomm MSM8976 Pro octa-core processor with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of on-board storage which is expandable with an additional 256 GB via a microSD slot. The six-inch display is in full high-definition, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for unparalleled durability. The phone supports dual 4G SIM cards, and has a 4000 mAh battery that charges using OPPO’s patented VOOC technology.
“The F3 Plus was developed for both selfie lovers and photography buffs who want a smartphone that lets them take stunning shots wherever they are, no matter the time of day. Our newest camera phone packs state-of- the-art hardware and software in a sleek body to deliver outstanding performance and style, perfect for the urban lifestyle,” Cheng added.
The OPPO F3 Plus will be available in Southeast Asian markets including the Philippines and India on April 1. The suggested retail price for the phone in the Philippines is PHP 23,990, and will be available in gold and black colors.
Lazada, the phone company’s official online partner, along with all OPPO concept stores, are accepting pre-orders beginning March 24 to 31 and comes with a free bluetooth headset and a selfie stick.
