Waze, the world’s largest community-based traffic and navigation app, added the motorcycle vehicle type in a software update launched last November 29.

The new motorcycle mode provides the same convenient service as with other vehicle types, including police alerts as well as speed trap and accident reports, but tailored to fit the needs and conditions of motorcycle drivers.

It features improved routes based on information from fellow motorcyclists, more accurate ETAs in reference to vehicle type, updated routing which includes narrow roads that do not normally permit vehicles with four wheels and above, as well as voice command-optimization for hands-free navigation.

To turn on motorcycle mode, users simply tap on Settings then Vehicle Type, and select “Motorcycles.” All motorcycle Wazers are required to have their phones docked when using, and as in four-wheeled vehicles, the app will be locked when the vehicle is moving.
