    Aruba delivers mobile-first networking portfolio

Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, has announced a brand new suite of integrated networking software and hardware solutions that enable enterprises to address the digital workplace requirements of today’s highly mobile workforce as well as the connectivity demands of Internet of Things devices. The new portfolio allows IT teams to anticipate and resolve connectivity problems and create secure policies to build highly productive digital workplaces.

Legacy networking models—with their static, wired desktop clients—are now out of place in today’s interconnected environment. The entry of the Bring Your Own Device phenomenon, IoT-enabled devices, and cloud-based services is posing a challenge to enterprises anchored on traditional connectivity and mobility requirements. With the new workplace, where out-of-office collaboration and non-routine schedules are the norms, organizations must adjust their approach to properly implementing employee-centric facilities to attract and retain skilled workers.

Aruba’s new set of networking solutions and software-powered approach advance its offerings beyond fixed, hardware-focused networking solutions to integrated wireless services with innovations in network management and security.

Some of the new Aruba offerings include Aruba Clarity for quick detection and resolution of network problems; Aruba ClearPass policy manager for easy management of BYOD employees; and new multi-gigabit 330 series Wave 2 APs with HPE Smart Rate technology for bandwidth and latency optimization.

ePLDT bolsters digital learning in Academic Institutions

    0

Gone are the days when learning is limited to browsing an encyclopedia, reading books and attending a formal school set up. Today, digital learning is beyond the four corners of a school, home or office and is now readily available to anyone with internet access. Informative content is easier to find, access, control and distribute through digital technology.

In a bid to support academic institutions, ePLDT, the digital enterprise enabler of the country’s leading telecoms and digital services provider PLDT, Inc., continues to strengthen its cloud leadership as it expands its portfolio to include digital learning solutions with its recent inclusion to the Microsoft Authorized Education Partner (AEP) program.

Microsoft’s education solutions offer a wide range of benefits to ePLDT’s academic customers.  For one, they enjoy a lower cost of investment compared to the standard commercial prices, and pay only for the licenses that are being used by faculty and staff and all their devices on campus. Students and faculty also get free access to Office 365 ProPlus, Windows 10 Education, and Intune. As customers, these academic institutions will also be eligible to access a range of online resources from the Imagine Academy, which include: tech curriculum, certifications, marketing collaterals, and lesson plans among others. Lastly, the schools can also serve as a testing center for Microsoft certification.

Indeed, ePLDT’s status as a Microsoft Authorized Education Partner demonstrates its capabilities to fulfill the varying requirements of academic customers, while also helping them maximize creative ICT solutions designed for the education sector.

“Our inclusion to the Microsoft Authorized Education Partner program enables ePLDT to provide higher-value services and solutions for our country’s academic institutions,” said Nerisse Ramos, ePLDT Group Chief Operating Officer who noted that the partner status further highlights ePLDT’s knowledge of and expertise in Microsoft academic products. “As it is doing with other industries, ICT is continuing to rapidly transform the education landscape, and ePLDT is committed to helping academic institutions accelerate their success with the adoption of digital learning solutions.”

The Microsoft AEP Program is designed to authorize and equip organizations that deliver academic products and services through the Microsoft platform with the training, resources and support they need to provide their customers with superior experiences and outcomes.

“By becoming AEPs, partners show themselves to be committed and trained in providing value-priced Microsoft academic products to the education market,” shared Anthony Salcito, Vice President of Education for Microsoft Corp.’s Worldwide Public Sector. “This authorization, along with our other education partner initiatives, gives our partners recognition of their areas of expertise and our academic customers the confidence that they are buying from academic IT specialists.”

ePLDT’s inclusion to the Microsoft AEP program also underscores the company’s commitment to enabling customers from various industries and sectors to benefit from cloud technology. “We want to ensure that our customers take advantage of opportunities inherent in adopting cloud solutions for their business,” shared Nico Alcoseba, Head of PLDT Group’s Disruptive Business Group. “Our cloud services not only enable academic institutions to positively transform their operations; more importantly, it allows them to in turn expand their reach and tap new areas for growth.”

Converge ICT offers fiber-powered connectivity to homes, businesses

The emergence of fiber-powered internet has accelerated recently, powering up homes and enterprises with high-speed internet that boosts productivity and provides optimum entertainment to users.

With the increasing need for fast internet, Converge ICT—a provider of world-class ICT products and personalized services to customers in the Philippines—rolls out next-generation broadband services that are set to improve lives and empower enterprises.

Converge ICT develops relevant and world-class solutions for its clients, creating productive working environments for businesses and optimizing home entertainment for every internet use at home.

According to Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge ICT president and CEO, access to internet is becoming more available, with more homes and small and medium enterprises as well as established ones recognizing the benefits that come with fiber internet’s integration into their operations.

“For businesses, slow internet speeds result to loss of productivity and efficiency; for homes, this means their inability to do research and watch their favorite TV show when they need and want it,” Uy added. “But with high-speed connectivity, you can enjoy its fullest potential.”

Fiber optic cable (FOC) and its potentials

Converge ICT laid more than 6,700 km. of fiber optics cables (FOC) beneath the ground using the latest micro-trenching technology.

These cables are composed of thin fibers known as fiber optics made of lightweight, durable, and non-flammable materials that are less susceptible to corrosion. Copper cables, a conventional material for telephone and internet lines, corrode that leads to downtime or the sudden interruption in the flow of data.

Fiber optics are also more compact and flexible. One fiber cable can stretch up to several meters and is capable of transmitting 100 gbps. On the other hand, a conventional copper cable can only measure a maximum of 100 meters that only transmits 1gbps at most.

Converge ICT uses this technology to produce a wide-range of services, which include full-speed internet that runs as fast as 100 mbps through its FiberX technology for homes, and enterprise internet and data services for small and large-scale companies.

Converge ICT also delivers symmetrical connection among its subscribers allowing them to enjoy high-speed download and upload links.

Converge ICT and its vision for Smarter Community

With the fast transmission of data brought about by Converge ICT’s pure fiber technology, information and other city elements are also becoming more connected. It facilitates these elements to run smoother benefitting the people who use it.

In fact, several public and private institutions are now equipped with innovative services leading to a smarter community.

Converge ICT develops infrastructure and application that are viable to improve transport, surveillance, traffic management, vehicle tracking, mass notification, and security systems.

Uy concluded, “Better technology means better experience both for businesses that want to meet their goals and for families who want to maximize the full potentials of superb connectivity. With Converge, these homes and companies can enjoy seamless Internet experience for work and play without the added costs.”

With its almost two decades of expertise in Central Luzon, Converge ICT is now taking on new markets in the metro to meet the increasing internet demands of the communities in the region. These cities include San Juan, Las Pinas, Manila, Quezon City, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Makati, Pasig, Taguig, CAMANAVA Area, Pasay, and Muntinlupa respectively.
