Yamaha Motor Philippines, Inc. collaborated with Spartan Philippines this year as part of their ‘Play Your Tough’ Campaign for the Yamaha Mio Gear. The motorcycle is a representation of personal toughness and encourages each individual to overcome any challenge. This is synonymous to the obstacles presented by Spartan Philippines in each race and the required determination by each participant to reach the finish line.
Yamaha was named the official lifestyle motorcycle of Spartan Philippines, a partnership that runs through May 2024. Since then, Spartan Philippines has been part of the Mio Gear Playground, a launch tour of the Mio Gear in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. For each leg, the spartan area consisted of physical challenges that participants had to go through such as crossing monkey bars, completing box jumps, battle rope exercises, and medicine ball slams. Those who finish are hailed as tough enough and given a special Yamaha Item.
Yamaha has been part of each Spartan Race with their Mio Gear Squad, who were ready to showcase their toughness. First, they participated in the Spartan Race Alviera, where the Mio Gear Squad took on the Sprint challenge. The Sprint is an off-road trail course with 20 difficult obstacles that include mud and water. Here they needed to throw a spear, cross monkey bars, scramble under barbed wire, climb walls and ropes, and more.
Next, they participated in Spartan Race Stadion in New Clark Pampanga. Inspired by the race held in the first Olympic games, the modern version is a 5K, 20 obstacle challenge mounted in a stadium. It is rapid, intense, and centered around teamwork. Utilizing functional fitness training, this test truly measures one’s strength, speed, and willpower.
And for Spartan race Montclair in Pampanga, the Mio Gear Squad had its largest competing group of 60 tough individuals. They took it to the next level by putting themselves through the ‘Super’. The Spartan Super brings trail running and 25 obstacles together in breathtaking, world-class settings. This 10K course, along with the intense elevation, requires Spartans to run with both speed and endurance.
Yamaha looks forward to more Spartans competing in races for 2024 and to experience true toughness with the Mio Gear.
