MG Motor Philippines has moved past the preview stage. SAIC Motor Philippines Incorporated officially began retail deliveries of the MG G50 PHEV on May 11, with a ceremonial key turnover at MG Alabang, marking the first units handed over to paying customers. The milestone arrives quickly after the G50 PHEV’s debut at the Manila International Auto Show in April 2026, where the model pulled in more than 800 reservations.
Among the first owners were Mauro Cortez, a business owner who plans to put the G50 PHEV to work for his furniture operations, and Reginald Gregorio, who chose the seven-seater MPV for family use. Their units were received at the Alabang showroom in front of MG Philippines and dealer executives, including MG Philippines president Zhang Weiwei and Auto Icon, Inc. dealer principal Dexter Co.
1,415 kilometers on a full tank and charge
The G50 PHEV runs on a plug-in hybrid system that combines an electric motor with a gasoline engine, giving it a factory-rated total combined range of up to 1,415 kilometers. That figure covers both pure electric running for daily city driving and gasoline-assisted range for longer trips, which is the core practical appeal of a PHEV for Filipino families navigating both urban traffic and interprovincial travel.
The cabin is built around MPV priorities: a spacious interior, seating for multiple passengers, and features aimed at both personal and business use. MG has not publicly released the full local specification sheet, but the model is positioned as a family hauler with enough versatility to double as a work vehicle, as Cortez’s use case illustrates.

800 reservations and counting
The reservation count is a meaningful data point for a model that had not yet entered retail when it was revealed at the auto show. Over 800 bookings within a few weeks signals genuine market pull rather than just showroom curiosity, and places the G50 PHEV among the more anticipated electrified vehicle launches in the country this year.
Zhang Weiwei said the response has reinforced the brand’s direction. “We are encouraged by the positive response to this model, and we remain committed to providing Filipino motorists with innovative mobility solutions that combine performance, efficiency, and everyday usability,” Zhang said at the turnover event.

MG’s expanding electrified lineup
The G50 PHEV is part of MG’s growing push to offer electrified options across different vehicle segments in the Philippines. The brand has been expanding both its EV and PHEV portfolios as demand for new energy vehicles picks up among Filipino buyers, with the G50 PHEV marking its entry into the plug-in hybrid MPV segment.
For families weighing the move to electrified driving but not yet ready to commit to a pure EV, the PHEV format offers a lower-friction transition: plug in when it is convenient, run on gasoline when it is not. At 1,415 kilometers of combined range, range anxiety is effectively off the table.
