Motor Image Pilipinas Inc., the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the country, has officially announced the arrival of the Subaru Forester GT Edition, the sporty variant of the brand’s beloved SUV.
“We are proud to introduce the Forester GT Edition to the Philippines. Now the Forester looks more rugged yet refined, sophisticated and sporty. It is specially made for those who want to stand out from the crowd and defy convention. With it we are offering our customers here a better line-up, better quality, and value. I believe it will excite the market and drive product interest,” said Glenn Tan, deputy chairman and managing director of Tan Chong International Ltd., owner of the Motor Image Group of Companies.
The Subaru Forester GT is the second Subaru GT variant car to arrive in Philippine shores following the Subaru XV GT edition. The new Subaru Forester GT was created in close collaboration with renowned engineering company Giken Co. Ltd. and Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi. Kobayashi was the former Chief Designer (head of global advanced design studio) at Subaru Corporation. He was responsible for the external design of 12 Subaru vehicles including the iconic WRX STI.
The Forester GT edition is fitted with an aero kit for its sporty look. The kit has four elements: Front bumper lip extension, side skirts, roof spoilers, and rear bumper lip extension.
The aero kit is complemented by the car’s set of 18-inch bespoke alloy wheels. Inside, the Forester GT Edition has its own seat-leather design. To complete the interior, Subaru has fitted the Forester GT Edition with a new 8-inch display audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The Forest GT Edition will also be the first Subaru in the country to feature the superview around recognition 360 system, a 360-degree camera view system that will aid drivers maneuver in tight parking spots.
Despite its sporty exterior, the Subaru Forester GT Edition is the same Forester. It has 156ps of power at 6000rpm with 196Nm of torque at 4000rpm. It comes with Subaru’s four core technologies: symmetrical all-wheel drive, Boxer engine, Subaru global platform, and Subaru eyesight driver assist technology, which contribute to a total of more than 100 safety features.
The Subaru Forest GT Edition will retail for PHP 2,120,000 and will be available in the following color variants: crystal black pearl, crystal white pearl, dark gray metallic, ice silver metallic, crimson red pearl, and sepia bronze metallic. Pre-orders will start on March 12, 2020, at all Subaru showrooms nationwide.
