At the recently concluded Makina Moto Expo, Suzuki Philippines reinforced its direction toward more versatile, real-world motorcycles, introducing a lineup designed not just for the road, but for wherever the ride leads. Anchored on its “Power in Motion” theme, the brand highlighted models that combine durability, efficiency, and everyday usability, with a strong focus on riders who want both practicality and adventure in a single machine.
At the center of this push are the DR160 and V-STROM 160, two models that bring Suzuki’s big-bike DNA into more accessible platforms, making adventure riding more attainable for a wider range of Filipino riders.
Everyday Adventure: Suzuki V-STROM 160

Inspired by the larger V-STROM lineup, the V-STROM 160 is designed for riders who want comfort and capability for longer journeys without sacrificing everyday usability. Its upright stance, refined styling, and elevated profile give it a commanding presence on the road while maintaining ease of handling in urban environments.
Power comes from a 162cc engine delivering 10.5kW at 8,000rpm and 14.5Nm of torque at 6,500rpm, providing a balance between efficiency and usable performance. Paired with dual-channel ABS and front and rear disc brakes, the setup ensures stable, confident braking across various riding conditions.
The V-STROM 160 is also equipped with full LED lighting, a full-color LCD instrument panel, and a USB charging port, adding convenience for longer rides. Fuel efficiency is rated at 50km/L (WMTC), allowing for a range of up to 650 kilometers on a full tank, making it a practical option for extended travel.
Available in Solid Cool Yellow and Pearl Black, the V-STROM 160 is priced at PHP146,000 and comes with a 3-year warranty, reinforcing its positioning as a reliable long-distance companion.
Built for Real Outdoors: Suzuki DR160
The DR160 takes a more rugged approach, drawing from Suzuki’s dual-sport heritage, particularly the DR-Z series. It is built for riders who need a motorcycle capable of handling both paved roads and more challenging terrain.
It shares a similar 162cc engine platform, producing 11kW at 8,000rpm and 14Nm of torque at 6,500rpm, delivering responsive performance across varied riding conditions. Its high ground clearance, muscular design, and upright ergonomics provide better control and confidence on uneven surfaces.
The DR160 is equipped with single-channel ABS (front) for added braking stability, along with dual LED headlights and tail lights for improved visibility. Suzuki’s fuel-injected system supports efficiency, with consumption rated at 48.8km/L (WMTC).
Available in Solid White and Solid Pure Black, the DR160 is priced at PHP129,000 and is backed by a 3-year warranty, making it an accessible entry point into dual-sport riding.
Bringing Big-Bike DNA to Everyday Riders
Both models reflect Suzuki’s effort to translate the capability of its larger motorcycles into smaller, more practical platforms. By combining durability, fuel efficiency, and rider-focused features, the DR160 and V-STROM 160 cater to riders who want more flexibility from a single bike.
This approach responds to changing rider preferences, where motorcycles are no longer used solely for commuting, but also for leisure, exploration, and lifestyle use.
Beyond the Ride
Suzuki’s presence also underscored the growing role of motorcycles in both mobility and culture. With riders increasingly looking for machines that support a mix of daily use and weekend escapes, the brand’s latest lineup highlights a shift toward more adaptable, purpose-driven motorcycles.
By focusing on real-world usability and versatility, Suzuki continues to position its motorcycles as reliable companions, whether navigating city traffic or heading out toward more open roads.
