Happening this Saturday, November 30, is “Pinoy Pride XXIII: Filipinos Kontra Latinos” at the Araneta Colisuem at 6PM. Fighting in full force and out to represent the country in the boxing arena are five Filipino fighters who will battle it out against Latin boxers.
Following Manny Pacquiao’s victory last Saturday, boxers Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, Merlito “Tiger” Sabillo, Milan “El Metodico” Melindo, AJ “Bazooka” Banal, and Jason “El Nino” Pagara are determined to be as victorious and bring pride and honor to their country and family.
WBO World Light-Flyweight Champion Nietes dedicates his victory to his kids once he beats his opponent Sammy “Guty” Gutierrez of Mexico.
Same goes for WBO World Minimum Weight Champion Sebillo who wants to defend his title and maintain his undefeated record. He also offers his match against Carlos “Chocorroncito” Buitrago of Nicaragua to his late mother who passed away last year.
Melindo and Banal, on the other hand, are determined to bring back their weight divisions’ championship belts as they compete with Jose Alfredo “Torito” Rodriguez of Mexico and ucian Gonzalez of Puerto Rico respectively.
Meanwhile, Jason “El Nino” Pagara is eyeing on his first world championship if he will be able to beat Vladimir Baez of Dominican Republic.
