There’s never been a better time to be a shutterbug, as Canon unveils brand new models of its VIXIA and professional cameras. There’s also something for people who love point and shoots, as Canon officially outs the IXUS 300 HS (which was featured in the August Issue of the magazine). Canon also took the opportunity to introduce their newest service center located in the Paseo de Magallanes where the event took place, and their newest show Snapshots Asia which has started its run on the Living Asia Channel last August 8, 2010.

Canon’s brand new flash camcorders the FS300, the HF R100 and touch screen HF M300 are aimed at consumers who want to experience high-end videography at a quarter of the usual cost. VIXIA’s new features include the Dual Shot function that allows users to switch seamlessly between photo and video mode. Hassle-free video sharing is made possible through the HD-to-SD Down-Conversion via the bundled software, which makes it much easier to post and share videos online.

For professional work, Canon also unveiled its first file-based (full tapeless) professional video camera, the XF 305 and XF 300. Both new models boast of MPEG-2; 4:2:2 color sampling, 50Mbps codec–Canon XF Codec–for capturing and recording native 1920 x 1080 video onto the robust, affordable and universally available Compact Flash cards. The Canon XF 305 and XF 300 are engineered for multiple production applications including broadcast news, documentary and independent film-making.

For serious point and shoot aficionados, Canon has unleashed the new IXUS 300 HS.  The camera is proving to be the most powerful Digital IXUS yet, thanks to the High-Sensitivity system it carries. The HS system is capable of unprecedented imaging quality even in the most demanding lighting conditions. The system incorporates a back-illuminated 10-megapixel CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 4 imaging processor that minimizes blurring and counters the effects of camera shake.

Finally, Canon in line with its commitment to constantly improve its service, Canon officially launches its new Customer Care Center at Paseo de Magallanes, Makati. This modern facility offers Canon users a convenient venue for their service requirements.  It also opens to the public a brand new Showroom showcasing the full line-up of Canon’s consumer imaging devices. Users can experience firsthand a wide array of Canon products on display, including massive telephoto lenses for their EOS line of DSLRS.
