With the growth of internet-enabled mobile devices, cases of theft and malware attacks on smartphones and tablets continue to grow.

Kaspersky Lab reinforces its attempts to combat mobile malware by launching two new security solutions for Android: Kasperky Mobile Security 9.0 and Kaspersky Tablet Security.

Both security solutions are devised to help protect personal data stored in smartphones and tablets, even in the unfortunate occurrence of stolen or lost devices.

According to Jesmond Chang, Assistant Manager and Corporate Communications of South East Asia, Kaspersky Lab is currently processing 125,000 unique malware daily, caused by technical and human factors.

With these numbers increasing along with theft risks, Kaspersky Mobile and Tablet Security include a number of features to help protect users against the aforementioned threats.

Kaspersky’s Anti-Theft functionality has a web management feature that allows device owners to remotely lock their lost or stolen device, wipe sensitive information from it, locate it via GPS, GSM or Wi-Fi, and review the device’s recent activities.

The Mugshot feature enables owners to visually identify the unauthorized users of their mobile device and recognize the phone’s surroundings. This is done through a web-based control center. With just a click of the mouse, the device will secretly take photos of the person using it and automatically e-mail the pictures to a pre-determined address or through the web-based server. Just like that, the thief can be identified.

The two new mobile security solutions also block dangerous websites, defend your system against viruses and mobile malware, filters unwanted calls/texts and privacy protection all optimized for supreme performance.

Both products are available in two versions. The free or lite version offers basic antivirus functionality and all remote device management facilities. The paid or premium version is said to offer more advanced antivirus mechanisms.

Kaspersky Mobile Security and Kaspersky Tablet Security retail for PHP 560.
