Garmin has unveiled the Approach S72, its new flagship golf smartwatch designed to give players a deeper understanding of their game while providing advanced health and wellness features for everyday wear.

Available in 43mm and 47mm sizes with bright AMOLED displays, the Approach S72 combines a lightweight ComfortFit fabric band with a titanium bezel and sapphire lens. Biometric data, including real-time heart rate, lets golfers see how their heart rate changes before and after each shot, while new on-wrist swing metrics provide data that can help players make adjustments based on measurable feedback rather than feel alone.

The smartwatch also introduces a new way to interpret green contour data. With an active Garmin Golf Membership, golfers can see the direction a putt is expected to break and the average slope percentage, helping them determine an appropriate aim point.

“We’re excited to introduce the next generation of golf technology with Approach S72 and help golfers better understand their whole game,” said Susan Lyman, Garmin vice president of consumer sales and marketing. “From biometric data and swing metrics to advanced golf features and everyday smartwatch tools, Approach S72 gives avid golfers the insights they need to take their game to the next level. It’s everything players would want in a golf watch and an everyday smartwatch.”

MORE DATA FOR EVERY ROUND

The Approach S72 introduces on-wrist swing metrics including hand speed, backswing length, and wrist rotation.

Golf biometric data lets players look back on a completed round and examine trends in how heart rate may have affected their score. The feature adds a physiological layer to post-round analysis, complementing the watch’s more traditional shot and course information.

On-wrist swing metrics provide insights including hand speed, backswing length, wrist rotation, and more. Rather than relying exclusively on subjective feel, golfers can use these measurements to better understand tendencies and evaluate changes to their swing.

Green reading builds on Garmin’s green contour data to help players identify a putting line. This feature requires an active Garmin Golf Membership, as do selected other advanced golf functions.

PRACTICE SESSIONS COUNT TOO

The Approach S72 extends its performance tracking beyond the course through a new driving range activity.

Golfers can track swing metrics and identify tendencies during practice while logging driving range sessions in the Garmin Connect app. Those sessions can also contribute to fitness goals, linking golf practice with the broader health and activity ecosystem on the watch.

Putting analytics provide another layer of post-round information through the Garmin Golf app. Players can review measurements including speed bias, direction bias, make rate, and other data designed to help evaluate strengths and weaknesses on the green.

AERIAL IMAGERY ADDS ANOTHER VIEW OF THE COURSE

The Approach S72 also introduces aerial imagery to help golfers visualize the shot ahead.

Real imagery of the hole can provide additional context when deciding where to lay up, where a safer miss might be, or how to approach a particular part of the course. Together with green contour information and other course data, it gives golfers another visual tool for planning shots.

BUILT FOR ALL-DAY WEAR

The Approach S72 is designed to move between the golf course and everyday use. Its lightweight titanium bezel is paired with a sapphire lens for durability and a ComfortFit fabric band intended to stay comfortable during a full round.

It is also Garmin’s first golf smartwatch with a built-in speaker and microphone, letting users make and take phone calls and perform basic tasks with voice commands. A built-in flashlight offers variable intensities of white light along with a red-light option for finding equipment in a golf bag or illuminating darker areas.

Battery life on the larger model reaches up to 20 hours on the course and up to 16 days with GPS turned off, allowing golfers to complete multiple rounds before needing to recharge.

HEALTH AND FITNESS BEYOND GOLF

The Approach S72 includes putting analytics, aerial imagery, driving range tracking, and biometric data for a broader view of golf performance.

The Approach S72 includes Garmin’s broader suite of health and wellness features for use away from the course.

Wrist-based heart rate, stress tracking, Body Battery energy monitoring, advanced sleep monitoring, and other health metrics give users a wider picture of their daily activity and recovery. The watch also comes with multiple preloaded activity profiles to support strength, mobility, and other types of exercise.

Garmin notes that these health features are not medical tools and are not intended to diagnose or monitor medical conditions.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

The Garmin Approach S72 will be available starting October 22, 2026, at a retail price of PHP52,990.

It can be purchased through the Garmin website, Garmin Brand Stores, Garmin Specialty Stores, and Garmin’s official e-commerce platforms.
