This generation values chicness, as the “kinda chic to whatsoever” trend makes clear. Aesthetics matter, but so does ease of use. We were raised to believe we can have it all, even in something as compact as a phone.
After days of use, it’s easy to see that the TECNO CAMON Slim 5G understands the assignment. It feels like its makers know the trend game, while aiming for a refreshingly chill price point compared with other phones chasing the same look.

The first thing you notice is exactly what TECNO intended: just how incredibly thin it is.
At 6.39mm and only 171g, the CAMON Slim 5G feels light without feeling fragile. Some ultra-slim phones are almost intimidating to hold, but this one passes what I’m calling the girl grip test. It’s easy to hold securely with one hand and, more importantly, never feels like it’s about to slide out of your fingers, even when you’re holding a frappe at the same time.
The Burgundy Red variant is easily the standout. Its deep wine finish and darker metallic camera accents give it a rich, autumn runway energy. The camera area almost looks like the eye patch of a fashion-forward pirate, in the best way possible.
My only design complaint is the printed text on the exterior. Details like the Dolby Atmos branding beside the speaker and the model name beside the cameras slightly interrupt the otherwise minimalist look. The typography is tasteful, but I still wish TECNO had trusted the hardware enough to let it speak for itself.
The front is equally impressive. The 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate makes scrolling feel incredibly fluid, while its high brightness keeps it comfortably visible outdoors. Late-night doomscrolling is also kinder on the eyes thanks to 2160Hz PWM dimming and TÜV-certified blue light protection. A doomscroller-friendly phone, I must say.
HARDWARE: 4/5
Slim phones usually come with an unspoken compromise in battery life, and TECNO clearly took that personally. Despite its 6.39mm body, the CAMON Slim 5G packs a 6,000mAh battery. That’s probably the spec that surprised me most in real use. It comfortably lasted through a full workday of messaging, social media, photos, and video streaming without making me anxious about finding a charger. When you do need power, 45W Super Charging keeps downtime relatively short.
Inside is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300e, paired with 8GB of RAM, expandable with Extended RAM, and 256GB of storage. It isn’t trying to compete with gaming flagships, but it feels consistently smooth when multitasking, editing social content, streaming, and switching between apps.
Durability also deserves credit. With IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance, MIL-STD-810H protection, and Rain Touch, it’s built for real life, not just careful desk setups.
USER EXPERIENCE: 4.5/5
One thing I appreciate about TECNO’s AI direction is its focus on removing small daily inconveniences. Instead of asking me to reinvent how I use my phone, it quietly improves routines I already have.
AI Recording Notes can transcribe lectures and meetings into organized notes, while AI Class Schedule turns a photographed timetable into a usable widget. AI Healthy Eating estimates calories from food photos, and imaging tools like AI LightMaster 2.0 clean up glare and harsh shadows with surprisingly little effort. None of these features feels revolutionary on its own, but together, they’re genuinely useful.
The camera system is anchored by a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C sensor with OIS, alongside an 8MP ultra-wide camera. What I liked most wasn’t sharpness but restraint. Daylight images keep good detail without looking aggressively processed, while night shots retain vibrant colors without turning every scene into an artificially bright HDR painting.
The 32MP selfie camera also deserves praise. It avoids the overly smooth, creamy look that many phones still default to. Skin texture stays believable, and portraits feel detailed without becoming unflattering.
VALUE: 4/5
The CAMON Slim 5G feels made for buyers who don’t believe they should have to choose between style and substance. At its expected price point, it offers an ultra-slim premium design, a 6,000mAh battery, a smooth AMOLED display, practical AI features, and cameras that deliver consistently natural results.
It’s proof that being a jack of all trades doesn’t automatically mean being a master of none. The balance is the value here. You’re paying for a phone that does many things genuinely well instead of excelling at one while compromising everything else.
BOTTOMLINE
The TECNO CAMON Slim 5G is for people who want their phone to feel as curated as the rest of their everyday carry. It shows that going slim doesn’t have to mean sacrificing battery life, usability, or personality. This phone understands why design matters and knows that good design should make life easier, not just prettier.
It feels well thought out for the audience it’s clearly targeting: people who want a stylish phone that’s just as practical as it is aesthetic.
