Volkswagen Philippines showcased some of their finest vehicles at the World Trade Center, Pasay City, this past April 9 to 12 during the Manila International Auto Show. Car enthusiasts and drivers got an intimate time with the newly launched Golf GTI and Polo Hatchback, as well as the Touareg Sport Edition, Beetle, Touran, Tiguan, and Polo Sedan AT.

The award-winning VW Golf GTI in tornado red was the main highlight of Volkswagen’s floor.  A hot hatch to its core, the Golf GTI combines performance technology, striking style, and uncompromised features making it a sustainable sports car. It is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged stratified injection engine with maximum output of 220Ps @ 4500 to 6200rpm and maximum torque of 350Nm @ 1500 to 4400rpm. The power plant is paired with a six-speed dual shift gear transmission and sports-tuned suspension.

A fifth generation Polo Hatchback was also on display for fans of the World Rally Championship to sift through. It boasts a Euro 4 compliant 1.6L, multi-point injection gasoline engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox that generates 105Ps of power and 153Nm of torque. It’s fitted with an anti-lock braking system, anti-theft with immobilizer and interior monitoring system, crash-safe body design, front and rear seatbelts, SRS dual front airbags, and park distance control.

The flagship Touareg was likewise on site representing VW’s first-class craftsmanship and design. Powered by a Euro 4-compliant, 3.0L, six-cylinder, in-line turbocharged direct injection diesel engine, the Touareg yields 245Ps and an impressive 550Nm of torque. The eight-speed AT vehicle also boasts a permanent 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system for an SUV that’s as capable off-road as it is on the asphalt.

It’s fronted by a four-bar grille and a front underride guard for the lower fascia, Bi-Xenon headlamps with cornering light, and LED daytime running lights. At the back, the Touareg sports large, upright tailgate features, LED lights that wrap around the rear flanks, and a rear underride guard. Propping the vehicle off the ground are 20-inch Mallory alloy wheels.

Moreover, a new Polo Sedan strutting a Euro 4-compliant 1.6L petrol engine that generates 105Ps and 153Nm of torque also made an appearance during the MIAS. Boasting a 6-speed automatic gearbox and superb comfort courtesy of a highly-quality build and spacious interior, it’s perfect for large families looking for a practical ride.

Finally, various other Volkswagen mainstays such as the Beetle, Tiguan, and Touran were pimped up for the show. Body stripes, front spoilers, rear diffusers, tail pipe finishers, special alloy wheels, and accessorized interiors saw the three Volkswagen aces attracting as much attention as their bigger, newer brothers.
