PLDT KaAsenso, the telecom’s micro-entrepreneurship support arm, has started the first few legs of its Cyberya livelihood caravan as a means of inspiring and offering Filipinos across the archipelago the opportunity to start their own business, be their own boss, and have financial stability.

“The Cyberya livelihood caravan aims to bring more Filipinos to the path of micro-entrepreneurship,” Patrick Tang, PLDT vice president and head of home voice solutions, said. “Cyberya provides a relevant service that Filipinos across all ages need—the Internet. For hardworking entrepreneurial Filipinos, this presents a great all-in-one opportunity to earn extra income without having to set up a business from scratch.”

Cyberya is a spin on the popular computer rental business wherein customers drop PHP 1 coins into a modified computer unit so they can use it for a specified period of time, kind of like the arcade machines of old. Its main investors include aspiring minigosyantes and micro-entrepreneurs who want a main or secondary source of income.

It is part of KaAsenso’s three backbones, namely Connect, Boost, and Extras. Connect entails arming businesses with reliable landline and Internet connections. Boost involves paving the way for minigosyos to expand their operations. Meanwhile, Extras lay the groundwork for additional income, such as Cyberya wherein aspiring entrepreneurs can start their own business with a capital of only PHP 7,300. This price already includes high-speed Internet, the customized Cyberya PC unit, as well as free marketing materials that promote the new enterprise.

She’s a family woman and office employee who managed to augment her regular salary through her Cyberya business alone, earning up to PHP 19,000 per month from the three units she invested in earlier this year.  Testament to her success is her plans to add three more units to her arsenal of rental computers.

Many other success stories will be told as the Cyberya livelihood caravans roll through key Metro Manila cities as well as Cavite, Bulacan, and Laguna.
